India-UK FTA: Final Text to Be Ready in 3 Months, Clearing Path for Deal Signing

The detailed text of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is expected to be finalized within the next three months, as officials from both sides complete a joint legal scrubbing of the agreement, according to government sources.

Once the final draft is ready, it will move forward for formal signing and then be submitted to the British Parliament for ratification.

However, due to the UK’s ratification process, the agreement is not expected to become fully operational for at least a year, officials noted.

“We have announced the conclusion of negotiations and jointly released some broad contours of the agreement. The full details will be shared after further coordination with the UK side,” one government official explained.

Officials remain optimistic, expressing confidence that the India-UK FTA will stand as a gold standard for future trade deals and international engagements
